What's in A Zanya Spa Salon Customized Signature Facial Anyway?

Let's play a game.  You name all the things you'd like to have in your ultimate facial skincare service, and I'll tell you if they are included in a Zanya Spa Salon Customized Signature Facial.  Ready?  Great!  This'll be fun...

OK.  How about a subtly lit room with a comfy warm bed?  Check.  We'll even put some nice hot stones under your neck and shoulders to help you relax.

A friendly and approachable esthetician who is also extremely knowledgeable and skilled.  Check.

A really good cleanse with products from the top lines in skincare.  Check.  We use SkinCeuticals and Decleor.

OK, well what about extractions.  I think I need them.  But gently please!  Check again.  We have a great deal of training in extractions and have many tricks of the trade up our sleeve!

Great!  I'd really like to address my skin's texture.  It seems dull.  Whatcha got for that?  Simple.  Every Signature facial includes a glycolic or salicylic peel to remove dull and dead skin cells and refresh your skin's appearance.

WOW!  Ok, how about this?  I'd like something to really plump up my skin.  We've got you covered - in a collagen masque!  That'll to plump your skin and give you new radiance.

Amazing!  I'd like to get some serious moisture and nutrients into my skin to fight the signs of aging.  What's your solution?  In every Signature Facial, we give you a blast of vitamin C as well as a customized masque to infuse your skin with powerful antioxidants and moisture.  Take that, hyperpigmentation and dehydration.

You're kidding me.  Cleanse, peel, extractions, collagen, vitamin C, customized masque...what else is there?  We also include high frequency or galvanic current to treat acne and get products deeper into your skin, and a therapeutic facial massage to improve circulation and drainage.

We've covered it all and then some in this treatment.  Far from your basic facial, enjoy a Zanya Spa Salon Customized Signature Facial for $115.

Wasn't that fun?!

Energy Work 101

At Zanya Spa Salon we have an absolutely amazing team of professional Certified Massage Therapists.  This level of talent is not easy to come by.  We have screened and interviewed literally dozens and dozens of applicants to find individuals with a high level of skill, experience and education as well as the ability to read and perceive the client's own energy and work with it and them to make adjustments and promote wellness.

Energy Work is a general term for modalities that are based on the idea that the human body consists of energy fields that can be stimulated through various techniques in order to promote wellness.  The concept of energy fields as a vital life force can be traced back to the oldest medical systems and is known as Qi (Pronounced "chee") in China, ki in Japan, and prana in India.
Some energy modalities such shiatsu, have their roots in ancient medicine, while others are a more contemporary interpretation of one or more ancient practices.  But the underlying basis of all of these modalities is the idea of energy flow in the body.   Practitioners of these modalities believe that keeping the body's energy in a balanced state is the key to maintaining health.

In each of these modalities, the practitioner seeks to help the client re-balance energy in the body, by stimulating, unblocking, or dispersing it.  The result is a greater sense of energy and well-being.

In the coming weeks, we will be posting information about some of the Energy Services we offer here at Zanya Spa Salon in preparation for our Energy Balancing Workshop on November 2, 2011.  We will be offering all energy services like Shiatsu, Reiki, Chkara Balancing Massage and Cranio Sacral Therapy at a discount to allow you to be more comfortable with trying something new, and experience the difference that improved energy flow can make in your life.

Our Restaurant Partner for September and October is Marsilio's Kitchen

Tradition.  It is comforting in its consistency and predictability.  And when someone is able to maintain traditions while changing them ever-so-slightly to keep them fresh and modern, then you get pure magic.

Alan Meinster at Marsilio’s Kitchen has done just that.  He and Executive Chef Marc Castiello call upon the roots of Italian cuisine with dishes like Chicken Cacciatore and Veal Parm.  Then they create surprising twists to delight the palate such as Crispy Salmon and Lentils with cucumber salad, and Sweet Pea and Asparagus Carbonara.  You can even get a special “Kitchen Beverage” such as Italian Soda, Kitchen Teaz or Sangria Soda.  Homemade dishes, exciting creativity and the freshest ingredients combine to engage you in a true casual dining experience.

The Old Country inspires the décor and atmosphere, calling you to the rolling hills of Tuscany, complete with a 16 foot old farm table for family style dining.  Also available are a private dining room for up to 80 people, corporate drop off service, and curb-side take away.

The extensive menu is available 7 nights a week beginning at 4:30.

For September and October, Zanya Spa Salon is proud to call Marsilio’s Kitchen our restaurant partner.  Together we are able to offer any guest who spends $50 or more a complimentary Kitchen Special Salad or a delectable Cannoli Sundae dessert.

Hair retexturizing just got the AVEDA treatment.

All we have to do is be patient and AVEDA will solve any beauty problem.  And they'll do it in an environmentally responsible way.

So many of us want to "retexturize" our hair, meaning make it smoother, less frizzy and/or tame the curls.  Almost all of the available treatments, while effective, have some pretty awful problems associated with them:  bad smells, harsh chemicals, possibly hazardous conditions for the technicians performing them.  But they were effective and gave good results, and were cutting edge when they came out.  Enter AVEDA...

The AVEDA Smooth Infusion Retexturizing Treatment gives beautiful permanent results while eliminating all the previous pitfalls associated with these treatments.  And, it has options:

  • Silky straight and smooth hair
  • Controlled volume
  • Controlled curl

Here's what you can expect from this service:

  • A customized consultation is required before you receive this service to determine which solution will be right for you.
  • A Smooth Infusion Retexturizing Treatment that gives your hair the texture you want.
  • Service time of approximately 3 to 4 hours.
  • Permanently smooth and shiny hair that makes daily styling easier.
  • To make the most of your smooth new look, we recommend following your retexturizing service with a hair cut.
  • Avoid getting hair wet, wearing ponytails, clips or headbands or tucking hair behind your ears for 72 hours after treatment.
  • You can use any AVEDA shampoo and conditioner with this treatment which also gives you the flexibility lacking with other retexturizing treatments.
  • This service is $150 per hour and is permanent, so you will only need to come in for a touch up about every 5 to 6 months.  The length of service will be determined at your consultation.

Call us today to schedule your consultation with Cheyenne, Nikki or Sophie and get the texture you've always wanted.  609.773.0770

Two of our Favorite Non Profit Organizations

Zanya Spa Salon as a business supports many non profit organizations.  We receive literally hundreds of requests each year for donations.  We would love to participate in every opportunity, but we simply can not afford to.  So that leads us to a selection process that is both complicated and easy at once.  We usually end up just going with our hearts.

Two notable organizations that always hold sway with our cardiac muscles, and help keep us heart-healthy through their farm stands this summer, are The Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance and Fisherman's Mark.

Fisherman's Mark was founded in 1980 with the mission of helping those of low and moderate income and remains such today,  yet any individual who comes to The Mark is served.

The services offered to our community include food and nutritional services with The Food Pantry, clothing and household services, vocational services, counseling and crisis intervention, and child care at The Lambertville Academy.

This year is the second year for Farmers, Families and Fisherman's Mark, a farm stand at The Mark on North Main Street in Lambertville on Tuesdays this summer where the community can come to purchase farm fresh produce donated by Gravity Hill organic farm and others.  Local chefs and foodies are also showcased each week cooking, demonstrating and sharing their knowledge and love of good, fresh, local foods.

Zanya Spa Salon is running our third annual Backpack Drive in support of Fisherman's Mark beginning August 1st.  And, this year we are also collecting non perishable foods for the food pantry, because needs are very high right now.  Donators can drop off backpacks, school supplies and canned goods at Zanya and receive a 20% retail discount on the day of their donation.  Also, donators will get a VIP pass for 20% off all salon and spa services Monday through Thursday in September.

This organization is run mostly through the volunteer efforts of many generous and talented people.  Rewarding and interesting volunteer opportunities exist for you too.

The other group we'd like you to know about is The Hunterdon Land Trust Alliance.  The HLTA was established in 1996 originally as an all-volunteer organization with these goals:

  1. To preserve, protect, and enhance the county's scenic beauty, and its environmental and historic resources.
  2. To provide for the permanent preservation of farmland and to support and foster agricultural viability.
  3. To promote the conservation and appropriate management of woodlands and open space.
Hunterdon County is unique in its rich agricultural history, and even today still contains the largest number of farms in the state.  Most of its residents rely on ground water wells as their water source, so that too is an area in need of protection.

Now owners of the historic Dvoor Farm, the HLTA started a Farmers’ Market at the Farm in 2007 to help support local farmers by giving them a place to sell their food directly to the public. Because the market is dedicated to supporting local farmers the Market policy allows the sale of only locally grown and produced products.

Through their land preservation program and farmers’ market, the HLTA are working to make sure local farmers can afford to buy - and farm - land in Hunterdon County.

Zanya Spa Salon has donated to the HLTA.  Here's how you can help.
